Casting Call Club - cool fun.
... but from what I can see most of it isn't paid work.
One of the videos I was watching mentioned this Casting Call Club. Of course I went straight there and had a look at what it's about. It's actually really cool and a good place for voice actors who want to try their hand at character voices.
About 12 years ago, I did a character game voice for free ... a guy named Christian contacted me via email (he found me on my old website VoiceAdvertising.com). He told me he was a teenager who was just trying out his hand at making video games and he needed a female voice for his character. I happily assisted for no charge because, I really wanted to have a go at voicing a character in a video game!
Sadly, I don't have access to my old emails where I would have found the scripts, and my voice files were on CDs which don't exist anymore so I can't even have a listen to them. It's a shame really because I'd love to hear how I sounded back then. I remember having a really enjoyable time acting as the character though, and at the time, that's all that mattered to me.
It's the same at Casting Call Club, you have decide whether you want to audition for projects that aren't going to pay you any monetary reward. Some of them look like they might run for a fair while too, so you'd have to also make the decision on whether to go ahead based on how many hours you're willing to give as 'free voice time'.
As I said, for me, I'm ok with the zero pay at the moment because I'm just trying my hand and nobody is forcing me to do this. I choose the auditions I do and if I get chosen for a character, I will do my best to bring that character to life to the best of my ability.
Who knows, maybe it will lead to paid work as well. I can only hope so! :-)
